Description
The Fruit and Vegetable Market of Kuwait is a Build Operate Transfer (BOT) competition project. It is located in Sulaibiya, Kuwait, and is intended to provide the main national distribution center for produce in Kuwait. This project is one of Kuwait’s architectural and cultural landmarks and the Middle East’s largest produce market, with a total plot area of 300,000 m² and a built-up area of 150,000 m². Moreover, its design follows extensive research of world markets and their circulation paths, which differentiate and separate customer and product movements. As a result, its unique architectural design and innovative technological solutions set it apart from other produce markets around the world. The project includes 535 varying-scale retail shops, auction halls with technologically equipped monitoring systems, and loading and offloading platforms to accommodate 500 trucks. Furthermore, it features cold storage and refrigeration facilities, automated systems, and administrative offices. Additionally, banks, recreational areas, and a 70-room hotel enhance its functionality. Meanwhile, security facilities, a medical clinic, and parking areas for 1,600 vehicles ensure smooth operations. Finally, this large-scale project integrates infrastructure engineering with advanced sustainable architecture, ensuring functionality and efficiency for Kuwait’s largest agricultural hub.
